Tech Help!

The following programs are effective in fighting different types of malware, viruses, Trojans, etc.

Security

AVG Anti-Virus

http://www.grisoft.cz/filedir/inst/avg_free_stf_en_8_173a1373.exe

(This is an Anti-Virus Program that’s completely free, uses live-tracking, and does a daily Virus Scan)

Spybot Search & Destroy

http://fileforum.betanews.com/sendfile/1043809773/1/spybotsd152.exe

(This is an anti Spyware program that will scan your machine, AT YOUR DISCRETION, which means you have to manually run it, I’d recommend at least once every two weeks.)

AdAware

http://www.download.com/3000-8022_4-10837062.html

(This is similar to the Spybot S&D program, but it uses a different process to search through your registry to find Malware, Adware, Etc. Between the two of them you’ll be able to keep your computer running perfectly)

Mozilla Firefox

http://www.mozilla.com/

(This is an alternative browser to Internet Explorer, it will provide the use of EXTENSIONS that you can use to modify your browser to provide you with the ideal internet experience)

These are Add Ons that you should use to make the most of this experience.

· AdBlock Plus

https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/1865

(This disables Banner ads using an external database, so they don’t LOAD at all which keeps you browsing quickly without the clutter.)

· That’s really the only Add-On that I would say is necessary, the rest are located at the link below, but for the most part, they’re only aesthetic for the most part.

Other Programs I Recommend

These are for the most part aesthetic, but very useful if you ever need to do anything involving the following

7-Zip An alternative to WinZip and Winrar, it’s completely free, and incredibly user friendly if you ever need to unzip a proprietary file like WinRAR, or WinZip, but don’t want the hassle of registering.

Utorrent

http://www.utorrent.com/

That whole Torrent thing I explained to you… This is the client program that you use to actually download the files with. So just set up the options and set your DOWNLOAD DIRECTORY where you want the files to end up. Make sure you remove files from the Queue when you’re done downloading them, and limit your upload bandwidth as uploading takes more bandwidth than Downloading.

· IsoHunt

http://www.isohunt.com/

This is the website that you’ll use to BROWSE/SEARCH for the files you want, whether they be Albums, Entire catalogs of an artist, Movies, TV Shows, Programs, really just about anything you can think of.

· Mininova

http://www.mininova.com/

Same as above, just a different site.

Object Dock

http://www.download.com/ObjectDock/3000-2341_4-10210264.html?tag=lst-0-1&cdlPid=10696248

This is the coolest program I have, and I really really like it a lot. This essentially replaces your Start Menu, and Quicklaunch menu. It provides a dock positioned wherever you want on your Screen, (Top, Bottom, Left, Right) And you can put whatever links/shortcuts/icons on there that you can think of. It’s very handy for organizing your programs, and files, and makes navigating whilst in a window very simple, and easy.

New Blog Set Up!

So here it is, my new blog, finally making the transition from a gaming forum, to my own personal site type forum.  Hopefully I’ll be feeling motivated enough to maintain it, and adding content, and all kinds of fun stuff.  Let me know if there’s anything you’d like to hear my opinion on, or other crazy rantings about, etc, etc, etc.
